Gastronomy

- La Oliva: La Oliva's concept is about pintxos y vinos – Basque-style tapas and wine. The pintxos – most of which involve a bread base plus topping – are lined up on the bar so diners can take a look, give their selection to the staff, and wait for their chosen titbits to arrive. The wine list is extensive, and offers some excellent Spanish varieties. For hungrier diners, there is a regular menu of starters and mains involving some excellent ingredients typical of northern Spain, including the delicious, if expensive, pata negra ham.

-Blauw: Blauw is on the up-and-coming Amstelveenseweg, and the design – split level with low-slung lighting and mood decor – gives it the edge over its more traditional Indonesian competitors. But its trendy interior and cool crowd don't detract from the fact that the food is exquisite. Order the rijsttafel (literally: rice table) and prepare for an enormous selection of marinated meats, fragrant curries and crunchy salads.

- De Kas: De Kas, meaning greenhouse in Dutch, is housed in an enormous glasshouse: one half for eating, the other for growing the fruit and vegetables that end up on your plate. If your food wasn't produced here, it will come from the surrounding garden or a nearby farm. You might be served edible begonia flowers or the leaves of the "oyster plant" that tastes (bizarrely) of its namesake.

-Beddington's: Beddington’s is named after British chef and owner Jean Beddington, who opened her first restaurant in Amsterdam in 1983. A combination of her Derbyshire roots, Asian influences from living in Japan, and modern Dutch twists, make her food some of the most stylish and experimental in Amsterdam. Think seared tuna steak with a zingy horseradish, wasabi and soy concoction, served with mellow sweet potato mash.

Transportation Services

- Amsterdam Bus: Buses, longer routes, linking the city to outlying areas and neighboring towns of Amsterdam.

- Night buses (GVB nachtbussen): At night buses is not valid Strippenkaart. The service only accepts the GVB nachtbuskaart or cash. The night service starts between 00.30 and 07.30 hours, 7 days a week.

- Amsterdam Metro (snell tram): The metro city has four lines that connect the center with outlying areas. Their service is fast, punctual and circulates between 6.00 and 24.00 hrs.

- Bicycle rental in Amsterdam: Amsterdam rental bike is definitely the best way to get around town. The city is fully prepared for this medium, with numerous well-marked bike lanes. To rent a bike you must submit documentation and leave a cash collateral.

-Amsterdam Bicitaxi: These curious vehicles with seating for two and powered by an engine-driver-tour guide, can be found in the dam next to the wax museum Madame Tussauds. Rates depend on the time and route to follow.

-Train Amsterdam Airport: Train service and NS Dutch Railways (Nederlandse Spoorwagen) offers discounts efficient communication with the other provinces and excellent connection to the Amsterdam Schiphol airport - and the bus terminal - Amstel Busstation. Tickets can be purchased at the offices of NS Tickets & Service, located inside the terminals, vending machines and coin-operated Netherlands cards or international debit card with Maestro logo (No credit cards accepted).

-Taxis: Taxis are a means of unwise transport connections to the city and the fare is quite high. You can take them in the street or at signalized stops. And also can be ordered by phone.

-Amsterdam Boats: In the market there are boats excursions with different routes and in some cases be able to embark and disembark all times desired; charter boats for four people rowing and pedal boats for hire in various spans.
